RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF
2017/18 WATER SYSTEM IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM #2 (KELLOGG AVENUE - 24TH
STREET TO 28TH STREET AND
18TH STREET - CLARK AVENUE TO BURNETT AVENUE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
2017/18 Water System Improvements Program #2 (Kellogg Avenue - 241h Street to 28th Street and 18th
Street - Clark Avenue to Burnett Avenue); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on
the 21St day of March, 2018, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the
Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 23rd day of February,2018; and,
WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Keller Excavating, Inc., of
Boone, Iowa, in the amount of $526,619.70 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of
said project; and,
WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor,and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Keller Excavating, Inc., of Boone,
Iowa, in the amount of $526,619.70 dated the 27th day of March, 2018, for the 2017/18 Water
System Improvements Program #2 (Kellogg Avenue - 24th Street to 28th Street and 18th Street -
Clark Avenue to Burnett Avenue) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications
referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with
Merchants National Bonding, Inc., of Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of
$526,619.70 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 1 Oth day of April, 2018.
