RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF FEE FOR BLANKET VENDING LICENSE
FOR AMES GRAND PRIX MAIN STREET CRITERIUM EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Ames Velo organization has proposed hosting the Ames Grand Prix bicycle
races on Saturday, June 16, and Sunday, June 17; and,
WHEREAS, the event consists of timed races of 10 to 50 riders per race along a short circuit,
and it is anticipated that riders will reach speeds of up to 35 miles per hour on the course; and,
WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 16, the races will take place Downtown from 4:00 p.m. until
about 11:00 p.m.; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, organizers have requested the following street closures
from 4:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.: closure of Main Street from Clark Avenue to Douglas Avenue;
Douglas Avenue from Main Street to 61h Street; 61h Street from Douglas Avenue to Burnett Avenue;
Burnett Avenue from 61h Street to 51h Street; 51h Street from Douglas Avenue to Clark Avenue,
Kellogg Avenue from Main Street to 61h Street, and Clark Avenue from 5" Street to Main Street; and,
WHEREAS, organizers have requested a Blanket Vending License for the closed area and
waiver of the $50 fee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that waiver of the Blanket Vending License fee of $50 for the Ames Grand Prix Main Street
Criterium Event on Saturday, June 16, 2018, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 101h day of April, 2018.
