HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract renewal for purchase of Electric Services transformers RESOLUTION NO. 18-138 RESOLUTION APPROVING RENEWAL OF CONTRACT FOR PURCHASE OF ELECTRIC SERVICES TRANSFORMERS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, this contract is for the purchase of transformers necessary to meet the anticipated needs of the Electric Services Department; and, WHEREAS, these transformers are kept on hand in order to ensure availability which will enable staff to replace failed transformers quickly; typically, these transformers are used to provide service for commercial and residential applications; and, WHEREAS, it is also necessary to meet the anticipated needs of the Electric Services Department for new service and maintenance activities; transformers would be purchased by the City as requested on a quarterly basis, as this provides the City with inventory management flexibility and also helps to reduce the need for extensive storage space; and, WHEREAS, on February 23, 2016, City Council awarded a contract to RESCO of Ankeny, Iowa, for the purchase of these transformers in accordance with unit prices bid, and this contract included the option for the City to renew in one-year increments for up to four additional years; and, WHEREAS, staff recommends renewing the agreement for the period of April 1, 2018, through March 31, 2019, and this is the third renewal out of four maximurn; and, WHEREAS, Electric Services staff reviewed the increases and found them to be acceptable based on steel market conditions; and, WHEREAS, Council should note that no contract amount is being authorized at this time, since payments will be based on unit prices and quantities ordered. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that renewal of the contract with RESCO of Ankeny, Iowa, for the purchase of Electric Services transformers in accordance with unit prices is hereby approved.
