HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and bond for 2015/16 and 2016/17 Bridge Rehabilitation Program RESOLUTION NO. 17-644 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2015/16 AND 2016/17 BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROGRAM (EAST LINCOLN WAY OVER SKUNK RIVER AND DAYTON AVENUE OVER UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2015/16 and 2016/17 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (East Lincoln Way over Skunk River and Dayton Avenue over Union Pacific Railroad); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 4th day of October, 2017, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the engineering firm of WHKS & Co. of Ames, Iowa, and filed with the City Clerk on the 29th day of August,2017; and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Peterson Contractors, Inc., of Reinbeck, Iowa, in the amount of $853,467.00 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor,and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Peterson Contractors, Inc., of Reinbeck, Iowa, in the amount of $853,467.00 dated the loth day of October, 2017, for the 2015/16 and 2016/17 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (East Lincoln Way over Skunk River and Dayton Avenue over Union Pacific Railroad) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America of Hartford, Connecticut, as surety thereon, in the amount of $853,467.00 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 24th day of October, 2017. A. Diane R.
