HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Request to change parking in front of Stanton Avenue U.S. Post Office RESOLUTION NO. 17-636 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST TO CHANGE PARKING IN FRONT OF NEW U.S. POST OFFICE ON STANTON AVENUE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Ames Post Master contacted City staff requesting a change to the metered parking stalls located in front of the new United States Post Office at 119 Stanton Avenue; and, WHEREAS, the United States Postal Service (LISPS) recently sold its property at 210 Welch Avenue to Kum & Go, and the new location at Stanton Avenue does not have any designated customer parking; and, WHEREAS, the Post Master is requesting a change be made to three metered stalls to two "I 5-Minute"parking stalls and one"Loading Zone"stall; and, WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) was contacted to make sure that this change did not adversely affect other Campustown businesses; and, WHEREAS, the CAA has expressed its support of the proposed changes; and, WHEREAS, it should be noted that these three metered stalls have some of the lowest utilization of any meters in Campustown. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request from the Ames Post Master to change the metered stalls along Stanton Avenue (by the new U.S. Post Office), as noted above, is hereby approved, and revisions to the Official Parking Meter Map is hereby further approved.
