Home My WebLink About~Master - Designation of authorized representative for FEMA Grant Application for Flood Mitigation RESOLUTION NO. 17-625 RESOLUTION APPROVING DESIGNATION OF AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE FOR FLOOD MITIGATION-RIVER FLOODING PROJECT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on November 29, 2016, the Council directed staff to work toward Hydraulic Alternative No. 6 (2010 event), which is for'U build;"and, WHEREAS, this would mean channel shaping with a reconnection to the floodplain, and this project alternative directly connects the improvements being made with the Flood Mitigation - River Flooding project with the Grand Avenue Extension project; and, WHEREAS, because this flood reduction strategy is directly tied to the Grand Avenue Extension drainage and bridge options that were chosen by the Council, the flood mitigation area needed to be included in the Grand Avenue Extension environmental assessment area; and, WHEREAS, the City has received environmental clearance and is now proceeding with final design and property owner communications for the Grand Avenue Extension and Flood Mitigation- River Flooding projects; and, WHEREAS, as a result, Public Works Department staff is working to submit a funding application for consideration under FEMA's Flood Mitigation Assistance Grant Assistance Improvements at South Duff Avenue; and, WHEREAS, the City needs to designate an authorized representative for the Flood Mitigation-River Flooding project. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the designation of Municipal Engineer Tracy Warner as the C ity's authorized representative for the Flood Mitigation-River Flooding project is hereby approved.
