HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and bond for 2017/18 Traffic Signal Program (E. 13th Street/I-35 Northbound Exit Ramp) RESOLUTION NO. 17-606 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2017/18 TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROGRAM (EAST 13TH STREET/INTERSTATE 35 NORTHBOUND EXIT RAMP) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2017/18 Traffic Signal Program (East 131h Street/Interstate 35 Northbound Exit Ramp); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 13th day of September, 2017, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Public Works Department and filed with the City Clerk on the 18th day of August,2017; and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Voltmer, Inc., of Decorah, Iowa, in the amount of $183,273.84 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor,and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Voltmer, Inc., of Decorah, Iowa, in the amount of $183,273.84 dated the 26' day of September, 2017, for the 2017/18 Traffic Signal Program (East 13th Street/Interstate 35 Northbound Exit Ramp) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Employers Mutual Casualty Company of Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of$183,273.84 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 1 oth day of October, 2017. 0�5�/�R-L�k Diane R.
