HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Closure of metered parking spaces for Crafts and Draughts in Campustown RESOLUTION NO. 17-562 RESOLUTION APPROVING CLOSURE OF METERED PARKING SPACES AND WAIVER OF PARKING METER FEES FOR "CRAFTS AND DRAUGHTS IN CAMPUSTOWN" EVENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) is planning to host its second annual Crafts and Draughts in Campustown on Saturday, October 7, 2017; and, WHEREAS, organizers propose to host artists to facilitate crafts for all ages, food vendors, a beer garden, and live acoustic music in the 200 block of Welch Avenue from 1:00 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, organizers are requesting the closure of Welch Avenue from Chamberlain Street to Hunt Street and the east half of Welch Lot T from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on October 7; and, WHEREAS, organizers are farther requesting that I I metered parking spaces be closed in the closed-off area and that the parking meter fees be waived for these spaces; and, WHEREAS, the CAA has had a successful track record of hosting events, and this proposed event is intended to be family-friendly and will take place primarily during daylight hours. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that closure of I I metered parking spaces and waiver of parking meter fees for the "Crafts and Draughts in Campustown"event on October 7, 2017, are hereby approved.
