WHEREAS, construction of the Ames Intermodal Facility was completed in July 2012; and,
WHEREAS, financing for the facility came from a federal TIGER grant given to the Ames

University's Parking Division; and,
WHEREAS, a joint agreement between the City and Iowa State University specifies that
ISU's Parking Division manages the facility, and the Ames Police Department agreement was a no
cost lease which is now expired; and,
WHEREAS, occupancy of the management office by the Ames Police Department has
strengthened security at the facility and has minimized vandalism, and the Police Department uses
the space as a satellite office for operations conducted by its Safe Neighborhoods Team; and,
WHEREAS, shared use of the management office with the Parking Division and Iowa State
University has also worked well for both parties, therefore, no changes to the previous agreement

WHEREAS, there is a desire to enter into a longer term, five-year lease to reflect the success
