RESOLUTION APPROVING CERTIFICATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT
APPROVAL ON BEHALF OF LOCAL NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVING
EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT FUNDS
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, in order for three local non-profit agencies, Youth and Shelter Services (YS S),
Emergency Residence Project (ERP) and the Assault Care Center Extending Shelter and Support
(ACCESS), to apply for finding under the Federal Emergency Shelter Grant (ESG) Program, they
are required to submit a "Certification of Local Government Approval"from the City of Ames; and,
WHEREAS, if they are awarded funding through this program, the certification allows these
non-profit agencies to receive these federal funds directly through the State of Iowa's Iowa Finance
Authority(IFA); and,
WHEREAS, additionally, these certifications confirm that local governments are electing for
IFA to administer these grant funds on behalf of the non-profit organizations for the calendar year
beginning January 1, 2018; and,
WHEREAS, the "Certifications of Local Government Approval" for YSS, ERP, and
ACCESS must be submitted with their applications to the IFA by July 21, 2017.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that authorization for the Mayor to sign the Certifications of Local Government Approval on behalf
of Youth and Shelter Services, Emergency Residence Project, and the Assault Care Center Extending
Shelter and Support is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 11 th day of July, 2017.
