RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURE FOR
DOG DOCK JUMPING COMPETITION
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, Model Farm and Ames Pet Resort are proposing to host a Dog Dock Jumping
Competition on July 3-4, 2017; the event involves setting up a 40' dock leading to a 20' x 40' above-
ground pool of water; and,
WHEREAS, dogs will run down the dock and jump as far as possible into the pool, and
bleachers will be set up along one side of the dock and pool for spectators to watch; and,
WHEREAS, the event is proposed to take place on Burnett Avenue between 5" and 6"
Streets; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, organizers have requested the closure of Burnett Avenue
between 5th and 6th Streets from 9 a.m. on Monday, July 3, to 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4; and,
WHEREAS, the event has been approved by the board of the Main Street Cultural District,
which has provided a letter of support.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the request to close Burnett Avenue between 5th Street and 6th Street for the Dog Dock Jumping
Competition on July 3-4, 2017, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 27th day of June, 2017.
