HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract for Water Quality Monitoring Study at Ada Hayden Heritage Park RESOLUTION NO. 17-262 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT FOR WATER QUALITY MONITORING STUDY AT ADA HAYDEN HERITAGE PARK FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the lakes at Ada Hayden Heritage Park are used recreationally for fishing and boating and act as an indirect water source for the Ames Water Plant in times of extreme drought; and, WHEREAS, in-depth monitoring of the lakes' health has not been conducted since the sumrners of 2009 and 2010, and staff recommends monitoring of the lakes' health every five to seven years; and, WHEREAS, on February 15, 2017, a Request for Proposals (RFP) for professional services was issued for Water Quality Monitoring at Ada Hayden Heritage Park to be performed in 2017 and 2018 ; and, WHEREAS, on March 17, 2017, the City received two proposals in response to the RFP; each firm also proposed additional monitoring related to the lakes' inflows and outflows to better understand the dynamics of the lakes; and, WHEREAS, after a thorough review of each firm's proposal, staff determined that the State Hygienic Laboratory was the most qualified firm for the study; and, WHEREAS, staff has worked with the State Hygienic Laboratory before for analysis related to drinking water and wastewater, and staff is confident that the Laboratory will provide a quality study to use for future planning purposes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Agreement for Water Quality Monitoring Services at Ada Hayden Heritage Park with State Hygienic Laboratory of Coralville, Iowa, in the amount of$35,790.80 is hereby approved.
