HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Waiver of fees for parking meters and a blanket Vending License during CAA's Summerfest event RESOLUTION NO. 17-236 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF PARKING METER FEES AND FEE FOR BLANKET VENDING LICENSE FOR SUMMERFEST IN CAMPUSTOWN FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) plans to hold its 7th annual Summerfest on June 3, 2017; and, WHEREAS, the event involves activities for children, live music, and a beer garden; and, WHEREAS, organizers plan to close the 200 block of Welch Avenue from Chamberlain Street to Hunt Street, and Chamberlain Street from Welch Avenue to the Chamberlain Lot Y exit from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, organizers are requesting the closure of parking spaces in the 200 block of Welch Avenue, on Chamberlain Street between Welch Avenue and the Chamberlain Lot Y exit, Welch Lot T, and Chamberlain Lot Y between 7.00 a.m. and 10.00 p.m; and, WHEREAS, the CAA is further requesting waiver of the parking meter fees ($202.50) and the $50 fee for a blanket Vending License; and, WHEREAS, Campustown Action Association's Summerfest has been a successful event, and staff feels comfortable that it will continue to be successful this year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request from the Campustown Action Association to waive the parking meter fees and the $50 Vending Permit fee during Summerfest in Campustown on June 3, 2017, is hereby approved.
