HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Waiver of costs for use of electricity during CAA's Summerfest Event RESOLUTION NO. 17-235 RESOLUTION APPROVING USAGE OF ELECTRICITY AN WAIVER OF COSTS FOR SUMMERFEST IN CAMPUSTOWN FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) plans to hold its 7th annual Summerfest on June 3, 2017; and, WHEREAS, the event involves activities for children, live music, and a beer garden; and, WHEREAS, organizers plan to close the 200 block of Welch Avenue from Chamberlain Street to Hunt Street, and Chamberlain Street from Welch Avenue to the Chamberlain Lot Y exit from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 10.00 p.m.; and, WHEREAS, the CAA is requesting access to City-owned electrical outlets in the area, as well as a waiver of the fees for electricity use; and, WHEREAS, Campustown Action Association's Summerfest has been a successful event, and staff feels comfortable that it will continue to be successful this year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request from the Campustown Action Association to use City-owned electrical outlets for Summerfest in Campustown on June 3, 2017, is hereby approved, and waiver of the costs for electricity usage is hereby fiarther approved.
