RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET AND METERED PARKING SPACES
CLOSURES DURING MAIN STREET CULTURAL DISTRICT'S
SNOW MAGIC EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Main Street Cultural District (MSCD) plans to host its Snow Magic
Celebration November 10 through December 24, 2017; and,
WHEREAS, this event will kick off on November 10 with the tree-lighting ceremony, open
houses, and horse and carriage rides; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, the MSCD is requesting the closure of Kellogg Avenue
from Main Street to 5th Street from 8.00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on December 9 for Santa's Train; and,
WHEREAS, organizers are fiuther requesting the closure of 12 metered parking spaces on
Kellogg Avenue; and,
WHEREAS, Snow Magic provides an opportunity to draw residents and visitors to the
Downtown, and it supports local businesses during the holiday shopping season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the request from Main Street Cultural District to close Kellogg Avenue, including closure of 12
metered parking spaces, on December 9, 2017, for Santa's Train during the Snow Magic event is
hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 25" day of April, 2017.
