RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF A BLANKET VENDING PERMIT FEE FOR
THE MAIN STREET CULTURAL DISTRICT'S SNOW MAGIC EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Main Street Cultural District (MSCD) plans to host its Snow Magic
Celebration November 10 through December 24, 2017; and,
WHEREAS, this event will kick off on November 10 with the tree-lighting ceremony, open
houses, and horse and carriage rides; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate this event, the MSCD is requesting a blanket Vending Permit for
the entire Central Business District (CBD) for November 10 and Saturdays from November 11
through December 23 to allow businesses to sell wares on the sidewalk; and,
WHEREAS, organizers are further requesting that the Vending Permit fee of$50 be waived;
and,
WHEREAS, Snow Magic provides an opportunity to draw residents and visitors to the
Downtown, and it supports local businesses during the holiday shopping season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the waiver of the fee for the Blanket Vending Permit for the Snow Magic event in the Central
Business District on November 10, 2017, and on Saturdays from November 11 through December
23, 2017, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 251h day of April, 2017.
