RESOLUTION DESIGNATING STONE BROOKE SUBDIVISION AS AN ENVIRONMENTALLY SENSITIVE
AREA OVERLAY.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, did,-,on
April 1 , 1980, adopt Ordinance No. 2747 establishing an Environmentally Sensitiv
Area Overlay for review and control of development and construction in areas
found to be and designated as especially sensitive to adverse public impact
from development due to unique environmental circumstances pertaining to the
site; and
WHEREAS, said Ordinance No. 2747 provides that the City Council
of the City of Ames, Iowa, may by resolution designate an area as an Environ-
mentally Sensitive Area Overlay after having received the advice and comments
of the Planning and Zoning Commission if the results of scientific study of
the area support the conclusion that the area so designated is especially
sensitive to adverse public impact from development due to unique environmental
circumstances; and
WHEREAS, such a scientific study has been made, as attached
hereto and made a part hereof by this reference,, of Stone Brooke Subdivision,
generally known as being located north of Top-O-Hollow Road and west of Hoover
Avenue extended, containing 70 acres, legally described as follows:
The Northeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (NE 4"'NW 14-) and
the Southeast Quarter of the Northwest Quarter (SE' -4-NW Q) of
Section Twenty-seven (27), Township Eighty-four (84) North,
Range Twenty-four (24) West of the 5th P.M. , EXCEPT for a
tract of land described as: Comiending at the center of said
Section Twenty-seven (27), Township Eighty-four (84) North,
Rage Twenty-four (24) West of the 5th P.M. ,; thence South
88 361 West 850.0 feet along the South line of the said
Northwest Quarter (NW 34-) of Section Twenty-seven (27) and the
centerline of road; thence North 400 feet parallel to the
North and South Quarter (�) Section linel, thence North
8e 36' East 480.96 feet parallel to the East and West
Quarter NO Section ISne; thence North 80 30' East 264-10
feet; thence North 88 36' East 330.0 feet parallel to the
East and West Quarter (.14-) Section line; thence South 660.0
feet on the North and South Quarter (k) line to the point
of beginning; and
WHEREAS, said scientific study of Stone Brooke Subdivision does
support the conclusion that Stone Brooke Subdivision is especially sensitive to
adverse public impact from development due to unique environmental circumstances
and
WHEREAS, the Planning and Zoning Commission has recommended that
Stone Brooke SubdiVision be designated as an Environmentally Sensitivie- Area
Overlay.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City
of Ames, Iowa, that Stone Brooke Subdivision, as heretofore legally described,
be hereby designated as an Environmentally Sensitive Area Overlay.
ADOPTED THIS 1st day of April , 1980.
