HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Detour Agreement for IDOT I-35/U.S. Highway 30 Interchange Ramp Modifications RESOLUTION NO. 16-433 RESOLUTION APPROVING DETOUR AGREEMENT FOR INTERSTATE 35/U.S. HIGHWAY 30 INTERCHANGE RAMP MODIFICATIONS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) has scheduled projects to reconstruct certain interchange ramps within the vicinity of the I-35 and U.S. 30 interchange, and this will involve the closure of several ramps for various periods of time; and, WHEREAS,the first prof ect involves the closure of two ramps—the first being the exit ramp from I-35 southbound to U.S. 30 westbound, which will require the use of a detour; and, WHEREAS,the detour will involve motorists exiting I-35 at East 13`h Street, going west to Dayton Avenue, then continuing south on Dayton Avenue to U.S. Highway 30; and, WHEREAS, the second ramp closure is the eastbound U.S. Highway 30 exit ramp onto Dayton Avenue, which will involve westbound motorists on U.S. 30 that want to access Dayton Avenue using the South Duff Avenue interchange and taking Southeast 16`h Street east to Dayton Avenue; and, WHEREAS, because these detours use local City of Ames road ways, an IDOT Detour Agreement is required; and, WHEREAS,it is estimated that these closures and detours will occur from May 2017 through August 2017; and, WHEREAS,the traffic control and detour routes will be maintained by the IDOT during the detour period,and engineers from the City and the MOT will jointly inspect the routes to determine the existing condition of the road ways prior to the detour; and, WHEREAS, upon completion of the work, the MOT will be responsible for restoring the road ways to at least the previous condition or making appropriate compensation to the City. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Detour Agreement for the Iowa Department of Transportation Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 30 interchange ramp modifications is hereby approved.
