HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Additional 2016 Urban Revitalization tax abatement requests RESOLUTION NO. 16-190 RESOLUTION APPROVING ADDITIONAL 2016 URBAN REVITALIZATION TAX ABATEMENT REQUESTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,the City Council approved two property tax exemptions for completed projects at the February 9, 2016, meeting(517 Lincoln Way and 307 Ash Avenue); and, WHEREAS,two other projects should have been included with the February annual review as they were filed prior to February 1; and, WHEREAS,the two requests are at Roosevelt Condominiums,Units 102 and 203,and these units were granted partial exemptions in 2015, along with six others; and, WHEREAS, however, in order to be granted the full exemption,the owner needed to have completed a new application prior to February 1, 2016,reflecting the increased valuation now that the project is finished; and, WHEREAS, these applications were submitted in April and July of 2015 (prior to the statutory deadline of February 1, 2016), and both are requesting the three-year exemption; and, WHEREAS,failure to include them in the February 9,2016,Council action was inadvertent. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the requests for tax exemption for Units 201 and 203 of the Roosevelt Condominiums at 921 9' Street as conforming to the Urban Revitalization Plan are hereby approved.
