HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and bond for 2015/16 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements - 13th Street RESOLUTION NO. 16-180 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2015/16 ARTERIAL STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS (13Tx STREET - FURMAN AQUATIC CENTER TO UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2015/16 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements(13th Street-Furman Aquatic Center to Union Pacific Railroad); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received at the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) Offices on the 15th day of March, 2016, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Iowa Department of Transportation and filed with the City Clerk on the 21't day of January, 2016; and, WHEREAS, this Council and the IDOT has heretofore determined that the bid of Con-Struct, Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of $1,324,632.00 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Con-Struct,Inc., of Ames,Iowa, in the amount of$1,324,632.00 dated the 22nd day of March, 2016, for the construction of the 2015/16 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements(13th Street-Furman Aquatic Center to Union Pacific Railroad) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company (Mutual) of West Des Moines, Iowa, as surety thereon, in the amount of $1,324,632.00 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 12th day of April, 2016. A. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk Ann H.
