RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF 2013/14 SHARED-USE PATH SYSTEM EXPANSION (SKUNK
RIVER TRAIL EXTENSION, PHASE 2)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
2013/14 Shared-Use Path System Expansion(Skunk River Trail Extension,Phase 2); and,pursuant to
notice and hearing, bids were received by the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) on the 16th
day of February,2016,as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the IDOT and
filed with the City Clerk on the 21st day of January, 2016; and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Peterson Contractors, Inc.,
of Reinbeck, Iowa, in the amount of $673,442.95 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the
construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Peterson Contractors, Inc., of
Reinbeck, Iowa, in the amount of$673,442.95 dated the 23rd day of February, 2016, for the
construction of the 2013/14 Shared-Use Path System Expansion(Skunk River Trail Extension,
Phase 2) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble
hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Travelers Casualty and Surety
Company of America of Hartford,Connecticut,as surety thereon,in the amount of$673,442.95
filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 10th day of March, 2016.
