HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Suspension of parking enforcement in City Parking Lots for Ames Main Street Farmers' Market RESOLUTION NO. 16-4 02 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF PARKING ENFORCEMENT IN CBD LOTS FOR AMES MAIN STREET FARMERS' MARKET FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the Ames Chamber of Commerce is planning to host the sixth annual Main Street Farmers'Market this summer,which will take place on the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street and on Burnett Avenue from Main Street to the U.S. Bank drive-through; and, WHEREAS,the Market will operate on 24 Saturdays from May 7 through October 15 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,to facilitate set-up and tear-down, streets and parking spaces need to be closed from 5:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. each day; and, WHEREAS,to facilitate the Market,organizers have also requested that the two-and four- hour limits on parking in CBD Lots X and Y be waived during Market hours, which City staff supports; and, WHEREAS, additionally, 75 metered parking spaces will be closed for 4.5 metered hours each day that the Market operates. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that waiver of parking enforcement in Central Business District Parking Lots X and Y and in the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street and a portion of Burnett Avenue during the 2016 Ames Main Street Farmers' Market is hereby approved.
