HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract for 2013/14 Shared Use Path System Expansion - Skunk River Trail Extension, Phase 2 RESOLUTION NO. 16-086 RESOLUTION FINALLY APPROVING PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND FORM OF CONTRACT AND AWARDING A CONTRACT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF 2013/14 SHARED-USE PATH SYSTEM EXPANSION (SKUNK RIVER TRAIL EXTENSION,PHASE 2 -EAST LINCOLN WAY TO SOUTH RIVER VALLEY PARK) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, and the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT)have heretofore approved plans, specifications, and form of contract for the construction of the 2013/14 Shared-Use Path System expansion(Skunk River Trail Extension,Phase 2 - East Lincoln Way to South River Valley Park) as described in Resolution No. 16-035 adopted on the 26`'day of January, 2016; and, WHEREAS,a hearing has been held on objections to the proposed plans,specifications,and form of contract,and to the cost of the proposed improvement in said City,and all objections thereto have been overruled. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the plans,specifications,and form of contract referred to in the preamble hereof be and the same are hereby finally approved, and the prior action of the Council approving them is hereby finally confirmed; and, WHEREAS,the Council did publish a Notice to Bidders for the construction of said work; and, WHEREAS, all bids have been received and considered. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa, as follows: Section 1. It is hereby found and determined that the bid of Peterson Contractors, Inc., of Reinbeck,Iowa,in the amount of$673,442.95 is the lowest and best bid for said work, and the same is hereby accepted. Section 2. The Mayor and Clerk are hereby authorized and directed to execute a contract with the said company in accordance with the company's proposal and the Notice to Bidders, and in accordance with the plans and specifications heretofore adopted and approved. Section 3. All bids or proposals received are hereby directed to be filed by the IDOT. Section 4. All other bids, other than that accepted, are hereby rejected, and the IDOT is hereby authorized and directed to return certified checks accompanying such unsuccessful bids and take receipts therefore to be filed in the office of the IDOT. Section 5. All resolutions or orders or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extent of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 23rd day of February, 2016. A. c Diane R.
