HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 2015/16 Spring Special Project COTA grants RESOLUTION NO. 15-724 RESOLUTION APPROVING 2015/16 SPRING SPECIAL PROJECT COTA GRANTS FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, on November 2, 2015, the Commission on the Arts (COTA) finalized its recommendations for the Spring 2016 Special Project Grants,and a total of four grant requests were received from three organizations; and, WHEREAS,the organizations requested$3,450 in funding,and based on the merits of each application and the criteria established for the special grants, COTA recommended the following allocations: Co'Motion Dance Theater $ 750 The Octagon Center for the Arts $ 750 The Octagon Center for the Arts $ 750 India Cultural Association $ -0- Total: $2,250 WHEREAS, special project grant awards are limited to $750 per project, however, organizations are not limited in the number of projects that may be proposed; and, WHEREAS, contracts were sent to the awarded organizations, and The Octagon Center has return its applications for approval; and, WHEREAS, staff has requested that Co'Motion Dance Theater submit its contract for Council approval; and, WHEREAS,grant applicants are required to attend a COTA meeting to present their project; and, WHEREAS, the India Cultural Association did not attend and was,therefore, not awarded funds by COTA; and, WHEREAS, Commission staff has followed up with that organization to ensure it can meet grant requirements for future funding opportunities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that The Octagon Center for the Arts COTA special grant contracts in the total amount of$1,500, as recommended by the Commission On The Arts, are hereby approved.
