COUNCIL ACTION FORM
SUBJECT: ABANDONING DRAINAGE EASEMENT AND STORM WATER
STORAGE EASEMENT ON LOT 5 PETE COOPER SUBDIVISION (SHAFFER'S
AUTO SALVAGE [618 FREEL DRIVE]).
BACKGROUND:
The drainage easement and storm water storage easement are over the east 400' of
Lot 5 Pete Cooper Subdivision. These easements were retained for construction of a
storm water detention pond that received storm water runoff from the entire subdivision.
The developer redesigned the detention pond and relocated part of the pond on the lots
that are east of the original location. New easements for the detention pond have been
granted to the City and these easements have been recorded.
It is now appropriate for the City to abandon the original drainage easement and storm
water storage easement described as the east 400 feet of Lot 5 Pete Cooper
Subdivision, Ames, Iowa recorded in the office of the Story County Recorder in Book
560 on pages 194 and 195.
MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED ACTION:
It is the recommendation of the City Manager that the City Council abandon the
drainage easement and storm water storage easement described as the east 400' of
Lot 5 Pete Cooper Subdivision, Ames, Iowa.
