HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Temporary street closure for installation of Storm Sewer RESOLUTION NO. 15-700 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST TO CLOSE LYNN AVENUE FOR UTILITY SERVICE INSTALLATION FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, the property owner at 2311 Chamberlain Street is currently in the process of constructing a new apartment building behind the existing University Towers building at 111 Lynn Avenue; and, WHEREAS,the site requires a new storm sewer structure and pipe installation,and in order to properly install these items,closure of Lynn Avenue will be necessary to perform the work; and, WHEREAS,policy dictates that the City Council approve temporary closures of those streets that are classified as arterials or are active CyRide routes, and Lynn Avenue is part of a CyRide route; and, WHEREAS,due to the locations of the utility connections,this work will require the closure of Lynn Avenue for approximately 15 calendar days to safely accommodate the new water service installation; and, WHEREAS, the property owner has proposed to begin Monday, December 21, 2015, over the ISU winter break,and this schedule does allow for some flexibility in the schedule to ensure the street is open prior to the ISU spring semester; and, WHEREAS, staff will work with the project manager for this development to contact the property owners on Lynn Avenue from Lincoln Way to Chamberlain Street regarding the closure. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the closure of Lynn Avenue to facilitate the installation of a storm sewer is hereby approved.
