RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF VENDING PERMIT FEE FOR
SNOW MAGIC EVENT
FOR THE CITY OF AMES
WHEREAS, the Main Street Cultural District (MSCD) plans to host its Snow Magic
Celebration November 13 through December 19, 2015; and,
WHEREAS,the event will kick off on November 13 with the tree-lighting ceremony, open
houses,and horse and carriage rides,and this year will also include a gingerbread house competition,
a scavenger hunt, and Santa's Train; and,
WHEREAS, to facilitate this event,the MSCD has requested a blanket Vending Permit for
the entire Central Business District(CBD)on November 13 to allow businesses to sell wares on the
sidewalk; and,
WHEREAS,organizers have further requested that the Vending Permit fee of$50 be waived;
and,
WHEREAS, Snow Magic provides an opportunity to draw residents and visitors to the
downtown and supports local businesses during the holiday shopping season.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the Main Street Cultural District's request to waive the $50 Vending Permit fee for the Snow
Magic Event on November 13, 2015, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 27`h day of October, 2015.
