HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and bond for 2015/16 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (6th Street Bridge) RESOLUTION NO. 15-622 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2015/16 BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROGRAM (6TH STREET BRIDGE OVER SQUAW CREEK) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2015/16 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (6th Street Bridge Over Squaw Creek); and,pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received by the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT)on the 15th day of September, 2015, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Iowa Department of Transportation and filed with the City Clerk on the 28th day of July, 2015; and, WHEREAS, this Council and the IDOT have heretofore determined that the bid of Peterson Contractors, Inc., of Reinbeck, Iowa, in the amount of $2,529,652.18 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Peterson Contractors, Inc., of Reinbeck,Iowa,in the amount of$2,529,652.18 dated the 22"d day of September, 2015, for the construction of the 2015/16 Bridge Rehabilitation Program (6th Street Bridge Over Squaw Creek)as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America of Hartford, Connecticut, as surety thereon, in the amount of$2,529,652.18 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 131h day of October, 2015. _ AS-W C Diane R.
