RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
POWER PLANT FUEL CONVERSION -
CONTROL ROOM INSTALLATION GENERAL WORK
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be performed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
Power Plant Fuel Conversion - Control Room Installation General Work Contract; and, pursuant to
notice and hearing,bids were received on the 16`h day of September, 2015, as called for in the detailed
plans and specifications as prepared by Sargent&Lundy,LLC,and filed with the City Clerk on the 251h
day of August, 2015; and,
WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Henkel Construction
Company of Mason City, Iowa, in the amount of$898,800.00 is the lowest and best bid submitted for
the performance of said project; and,
WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Henkel Construction Company
of Mason City, Iowa, in the amount of$898,800.00 dated the 22nd day of September, 2015, for
the performance of the Power Plant Fuel Conversion-Control Room Installation General Work
Contract as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble
hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Western Surety Company of
Chicago,Illinois,as surety thereon,in the amount of$898,800.00 filed in connection therewith,
be and the same are hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
