HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - IDOT Funding Agreement for 2015/16 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements Project - 13th Street RESOLUTION NO. 15-510 RESOLUTION APPROVING IOWA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FUNDING AGREEMENT FOR 2015/16 ARTERIAL STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS (13TH STREET) FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, this annual program utilizes current repair and reconstruction techniques to improve arterial streets with asphalt or concrete, and these pavement improvements are needed to restore structural integrity, serviceability, and rideability; and, WHEREAS, targeted streets are reaching a point of accelerated deterioration, and by improving these streets prior to excessive problems, the service life will be extended; and, WHEREAS, the location for 2015/16 is 13th Street from the Iowa State University(ISU)/ City of Ames jurisdiction limit line (west of Crescent Street)to the Union Pacific Railroad tracks; and, WHEREAS, as part of this project, staff will evaluate the potential of extending sidewalk along the north side of 13th Street to the Furman Aquatic Center; and, WHEREAS,this project is shown in the 2015-2020 Capital Improvements Plan with funding in the amount of$400,000 from General Obligation bonds and$1,060,000 from MPO/STP funds; and, WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the project will have a February 2016 letting, which will be through the Iowa Department of Transportation(Iowa DOT), with construction in 2016. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Iowa Department of Transportation Agreement for MPO/STP funding for the 2015/16 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements (131h Street) is hereby approved.
