Home My WebLink About~Master - Contract and bond for 2014/15 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation (Manhole Rehabilitation - Basins 1 & 5) RESOLUTION NO. 15-492 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2014/15 SANITARY SEWER REHABILITATION (MANHOLE REHABILITATION—BASINS 1 AND 5) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2014/15 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation(Manhole Rehabilitation—Basins 1 and 5);and,pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 22"d day of July, 2015, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by Veenstra&Kimm of West Des Moines,Iowa,and filed with the City Clerk on the 23rd day of June, 2015; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Save Our Sewers,Inc.,of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in the amount of$1,622,502.06 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Save Our Sewers, Inc., of Cedar Rapids,Iowa,in the amount of$1,622,502.06 dated the 28"day of July,2015,for the construction of the 2014/15 Sanitary Sewer Rehabilitation (Manhole Rehabilitation — Basins 1 and 5) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with North American Specialty Insurance Company of Manchester, New Hampshire, as surety thereon, in the amount of $1,622,502.06 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 11tn day of August, 2015. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk Ann H.
