Home My WebLink About~Master - Rejection of all bids for Power Plant Turbine Generator Maintenance, Repair, and Related Services RESOLUTION NO. 15-418 RESOLUTION REJECTING ALL BIDS FOR POWER PLANT TURBINE GENERATOR MAINTENANCE, REPAIR,AND RELATED SERVICES FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,on April 28,2015,City Council approved preliminary plans and specifications for the Turbine Generator Maintenance, Repair, and Related Services contract; and, WHEREAS, this contract is for a contractor to provide turbine maintenance services to the two steam turbine generators at the Power Plant on an as-needed basis; and, WHEREAS,this contract is to provide turbine generator maintenance services for the period from July 1,2015,through June 30,2016,and the contract includes a provision that would allow the City to renew the contract for up to four additional one-year terms; and, WHEREAS,bid documents were issued to 16 companies,and the bid was advertised on the Current Bid Opportunities section of the Purchasing webpage, a Legal Notice was published in the Ames Tribune, and the bid was also sent to one plan room; and, WHEREAS, on May 27, 2015,bids were received from three companies; and, WHEREAS, the goal was to have a service contract in place to perform turbine generator work at the same time the conversion is to take place this fall; and, WHEREAS, the necessary work is now being accomplished within the coal to natural gas conversion project, making the need for this contract unnecessary at this time; and, WHEREAS, staff will plan rebid for these services in 2016. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that rejection of the three bids received for the Turbine Generator Maintenance,Repair,and Related, Services contract is hereby approved,and staff is directed to procure these services on an as-needed basis.
