HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract renewal for FY 2015/16 Hauling of Ferrous Metals for Resource Recovery Plant RESOLUTION NO. 15-217 RESOLUTION APPROVING RENEWAL OF CONTRACT FOR FY 2015/16 HAULING OF FERROUS METALS FOR RESOURCE RECOVERY PLANT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, on April 26, 2011, the Council awarded a contract to Waste Management of Ames for hauling ferrous metals for the Resource Recovery Plant; and, WHEREAS,this contract includes furnishing trailer services and hauling ferrous metals from the Resource Recovery Plant to AMG Resource Corporation in St. Paul, Minnesota; and, WHEREAS,the contract is based on a per-mile,per-ton bid amount and a round trip distance of 460 miles per trip to AMG Resource Corporation; and, WHEREAS, this contract has a provision to cancel the contract if this type of service is no longer needed because of a change in disposal procedures; and, WHEREAS,the period from July 1,2015,through June 30,2016,is the fourth and final 12- month extension period,and extension periods are contingent upon approval of funding by Council; and, WHEREAS, the original base bid price of$.1236 per mile per ton translated to $56.86 per ton for a round trip to St. Paul, Minnesota; and, WHEREAS, under the contract adjustment clause, the contract price would decrease to $.1052 per mile per ton for FY 2016, decreasing the cost for a round trip to St. Paul,Minnesota to $48.39 per ton; and, WHEREAS, the approved FY 2016 budget includes $130,200 for this work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the contract renewal for FY 2015/16 Hauling of Ferrous Metals for the Resource Recovery Plant with Waste Management of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of $.1052 per mile per ton is hereby approved.
