Dear Bob:
Steve Schainlcer has asked me to respond to your letter concerning the financial security
for the widening of G.W. Carver Avenue (old R-50). By copy of this letter, the City will
notify Firstar Bank of Ames that they may release the $79,695 to the Developers. The
financial security related to the paving of G.W. Carver adjacent to Northridge Parl<Avav
Subdivision, loth Addition. Since that lane addition is no longer going to be
constructed, the security can be released.
You also requested that paragraph 2a of the developer's agreement be voided since the
widening is no longer going to be accomplished. That is true for the north-south portion
of G. W. Carver Avenue, but not so for the east-west portion along the north side of the
subdivision. Prior to the acceptance of a final plat that deals with land adjacent to the
east-west portion of G.W. Carver Avenue, we will need to modify the developer's
agreement to arrange for the financial security for the developers responsibility to pay
for one-half of the extra lane on that portion of the roadway.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
Paul D. Wiegand, P.E.

Re: Release of Hold Check for Northridge Parkway Subdivision, 14th Addition
ACC Surface and Streetlights
Dear Bob-
As we discussed, I am returning the enclosed Cashier's Check No. 440 1068857 in the amount of
$40,000.00, previously on file in our office as security for public improvements in Northridge
Parkway Subdivision, 14th Addition. Municipal Engineer Jerry Byg has authorized me to release
this check at this time.
Jerry has also informed me that a new check needs to be filed for the $79,695.00 for the R-50
widening, and said he would be contacting your office. I have called John Russell at FirStar Bank
to let him know the status of this matter.
Please let me know if there is any further information you need from our office at this time.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Sandra L. Ryan
