Campbell, Mayor, and Members of the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa Re: Vacating Utility Easements and Accepting New Easements at Northcrest Subdivision Dear Mayor Campbell and Council Members: A recently completed construction project at Northcrest Subdivision required relocation of water mains and storm sewers in Lot 1. As a result, parts of the easements previously granted to the City by Northcrest, Inc., are no longer needed and should be vacated. Northcrest has agreed to grant new easements to the City corresponding with the locations of the relocated water mains and storm sewers. City staff have reviewed the amended easements and agree that they are accurate and sufficient. The amended easement plat, attached, indicates the locations of easements for water mains and storm sewers as they will exist following vacation of the current easements and acceptance of the new easement grants from Northcrest. I recommend that the Council adopt the resolutions abandoning the water and storm sewer easements in Lot I,Northcrest Subdivision, and accepting the easements described in the amended easement plat.
