HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and bond for new Ames Water Treatment Plant - Contract 2 RESOLUTION NO. 14-557 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF WATER TREATMENT PLANT - CONTRACT 2 FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the Water Treatment Plant- Contract 2; and,pursuant to notice and hearing,bids were received on the 24th day of September, 2014, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by FOX Engineering Associates and filed with the City Clerk on the I Ith day of August, 2014; and, WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Knutson Construction Services, Inc., of Minneapolis, Minnesota, in the amount of$52,497,000.00 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Knutson Construction Services, Inc.,of Minneapolis,Minnesota,in the amount of$52,497,000.00 dated the 14th day of October,2014, for the construction of the Water Treatment Plant- Contract 2 as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of Minneapolis, Minnesota, as surety thereon, in the amount of$52,497,000.00 filed in connection therewith, be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 28th day of October, 2014. A. cam• ��� Diane .
