RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
FURNISHING OF 15KV OUTDOOR METALCLAD SWITCHGEAR AND 69KV
CONTROL PANELS FOR AMES PLANT DISTRIBUTION SUBSTATION
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be performed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
Furnishing of 15kV Outdoor Metalclad Switchgear and 69kV Control Panels for Ames Plant
Distribution Substation; and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 12th day of
March, 2014, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by DGR Engineering of
Rockwell City, Iowa, and filed with the City Clerk on the 24th day of January, 2014; and,
WHEREAS, this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Central Electric
Manufacturing Company, d/b/a AZZ Switchgear Systems of Fulton, Missouri, in the amount of
$509,831.13 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and Central Electric Manufacturing
Company, d/b/a AZZ Switchgear Systems of Fulton, Missouri, in the amount of$509,831.13
dated the 25th day of March, 2014, for the Furnishing of 15kV Outdoor Metalclad Switchgear
and 69kV Control Panels for Ames Plant Distribution Substation as provided for in the detailed
plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof,and the performance bond of the said
contractor with Travelers Casualty and Surety Company of America of Richardson, Texas, as
surety thereon,in the amount of$509,831.13 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are
hereby approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
