RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR
CONSTRUCTION OF
WATER TREATMENT PLANT FIVE-YEAR WELL REHABILITATION PROJECT
(YEAR 2)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain
improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the
Water Treatment Plant Five-Year Well Rehabilitation Project (Year 2); and, pursuant to notice and
hearing, bids were received on the 11tt' day of July, 2012, as called for in the detailed plans and
specifications as prepared by the Purchasing Division of the Finance Department and filed with the City
Clerk on the 1 ltn day of June, 2012; and,
WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of The Northway Corporation
of Waukee, Iowa, in the amount of$58,833.00 (Year 2) is the lowest and best bid submitted for the
construction of said project; and,
WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed
by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as
follows:
Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames, Iowa, and The Northway Corporation of
Waukee, Iowa, in the amount of$58,833.00 (Year 2) dated the 28th day of May, 2013, for the
Water Treatment Plant Five-Year Well Rehabilitation Project (Year 2) as provided for in the
detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond
of the said contractor with United Fire & Casualty Company of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as surety
thereon, in the amount of$58,833.00 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby
approved.
Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to
the extend of such conflict.
ADOPTED THIS 1 lth day of June, 2013.
