HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and bond for 2008/09 and 2009/10 Skunk River Trail Extension (HYSC to Southeast 16th Street) RESOLUTION NO. 12-534 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2008/09 AND 2009/10 SKUNK RIVER TRAIL EXTENSION (HUNZIKER YOUTH SPORTS COMPLEX TO SOUTHEAST 16TH STREET) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames, Iowa, such project having been designated as the 2008/09 and 2009/10 Skunk River Trail Extension(Hunziker Youth Sports Complex to Southeast 16' Street); and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received by the Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) on the 181}i day of September, 2012, as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the IDOT and filed with the City Clerk on the 28t1i day of August, 2012; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of Con-Struct, Inc., of Ames, Iowa, in the amount of$252,409.75 is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and Con-Struct,Inc.,of Ames,Iowa, in the amount of$252,409.75 dated the 25t1i day of September,2012,for the construction of the 2008/09 and 2009/10 Skunk River Trail Extension (Hunziker Youth Sports Complex to Southeast 16t1i Street) as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with Merchants Bonding Company(Mutual)of Des Moines,Iowa,as surety thereon,in the amount of$252,409.75 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 9tn day of October, 2012. A. Diane R.
