RESOLUTION APPROVING FAA GRANT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2010/11
AIRPORT IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM FOR WEST APRON REHABILITATION
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,the Airport Master Plan for the Municipal Airport examines all the needs of the
Airport and recommends improvements to keep the infrastructure in safe condition; and,
WHEREAS, each year, the City submits a copy of the identified improvements requesting
Federal Aviation Administration(FAA)funding to the Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT),
and these requests are then forwarded to the FAA for consideration; and,
WHEREAS, the 2010/11 Capital Improvements Plan includes a project to rehabilitate the
West Apron area, and this project will include removing and replacing all paved areas of the West
Apron along with minor electrical improvements; and,
WHEREAS, on September 5, 2012, the City was notified that FAA grant funding for this
project is available, and the total estimated cost for the project is $1,302,281; and,
WHEREAS, the FAA portion of this project is $1,172,053 with the City's share being
$130,228; and,
WHEREAS, the local share (10%)will come from the Airport Construction Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the FAA funding for construction of the 2010/11 Airport Improvements for the West Apron
Rehabilitation is hereby approved, and matching funds in the amount of $130,228 is further
approved.
