RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR THE FOR RENEWAL OF
DISTRIBUTION CLASS WOOD UTILITY POLES
FOR THE ELECTRIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT, CITY OF AMES, IOWA
WHEREAS,this contract renewal is for the purchase of distribution class wood utility poles
necessaryto meet the anticipated needs ofthe Electric Services Department for new construction and
maintenance; and,
WHEREAS,under the proposed contract renewal,these utility poles would be purchased as
requested on a quarterly basis, and this provides the City with flexible inventory management and
helps to reduce the need for storage space; and,
WHEREAS, the proposed contract period would end August 31, 2013; and,
WHEREAS, bids were received on the 4t' day of August, 2009, for the purchase of
distribution class wood utility poles, and said bids were carefully analyzed.
WHEREAS, the current vendor,Baldwin Pole, of Bay Minette, Alabama,has indicated its
willingness to renew the current contract with a three percent price increase for 2012.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the contract renewal for Distribution Class Wood Utility Poles with Baldwin Pole of Bay
Minette, Alabama, in accordance with a three percent increase, is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 14`h day of August, 2012.
