HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Amendment to 2011/12 Human Services Contract with MICA RESOLUTION NO. 12-357 RESOLUTION APPROVING REQUEST FROM MID-IOWA COMMUNITY ACTION (MICA) FOR MODIFICATION TO 2011/12 HUMAN SERVICES CONTRACT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, MICA has submitted a request to the City to modify its 2011/12 ASSET allocations by moving$3,252 in unspent funds from the Family Development Program to the Food Pantry Program, and it has indicated that this change is necessary because of turnover in family development staff; and, WHEREAS, a new staffer has been hired for this program,but will be unable to begin work until after the conclusion of the City's 2011/12 contract; and, WHEREAS, the Food Pantry Program received a total of$22,731 from all funders, which was spent by January,and since then,MICA has incurred approximately$21,000 in additional Food Pantry expenses; and, WHEREAS, should the Council authorize a contract amendment, it should be applied retroactively, and those additional costs that have already occurred in serving City clients would be eligible for reimbursement; and, WHEREAS,MICA appeared at the Story County Board of Supervisors meeting on May 29 to request moving$6,460 in unspent County funds from Family Development to Food Pantry; and, WHEREAS,there remains$4,366.09 in Family Development and Education funds from the City that have not been drawn down,and all other City-funded MICA services have been fully drawn down. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the request to amend the City's 2011/12 human services contract with MICA to move $3,252 in unspent Family Development and Education funds to the Food Pantry Program is hereby approved.
