HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Contract and bond for Unit No. 8 Feedwater Heater Replacement RESOLUTION NO. 12-343 RESOLUTION APPROVING CONTRACT AND BOND FOR CONSTRUCTION OF UNIT NO. 8 FEEDWATER HEATER REPLACEMENT FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS,this City Council has heretofore determined it advisable and necessary that certain improvements be constructed in the City of Ames,Iowa,such proj ect having been designated as the Unit No. 8 Feedwater Heater Replacement; and, pursuant to notice and hearing, bids were received on the 1 It'day of April,2012,as called for in the detailed plans and specifications as prepared by the Finance Department/Purchasing Division and filed with the City Clerk on the 6' day of March, 2012; and, WHEREAS,this Council has heretofore determined that the bid of SPX Heat Transfer,Inc.,of Tulsa, Oklahoma, is the lowest and best bid submitted for the construction of said project; and, WHEREAS, contract in the form provided in said plans and specifications has been executed by said contractor, and satisfactory performance bond has been filed by said contractor. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, as follows: Section 1. The contract between the City of Ames,Iowa,and SPX Heat Transfer,Inc.,of Tulsa, Oklahoma,dated the 22"d day of May,2012, for the Unit No. 8 Feedwater Heater Replacement Project as provided for in the detailed plans and specifications referred to in the preamble hereof, and the performance bond of the said contractor with The Continental Insurance Company of Chicago, Illinois, as surety thereon, in the amount of $752,007.00 filed in connection therewith,be and the same are hereby approved. Section 2. All resolutions or order or parts thereof in conflict herewith are hereby repealed to the extend of such conflict. ADOPTED THIS 26t'day of June, 2012. Diane R. Voss, City Clerk Ann H.
