HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 2012/13 Annual Action Plan for CDBG Program RESOLUTION NO. 12-249 RESOLUTION APPROVING 2012/13 ANNUAL ACTION PLAN IN CONNECTION WITH COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS,in order to receive federal Community Development Block Grant(CDBG)funds,the City must submit a Consolidated Plan to the Department of Housing and Urban Development(HUD), and this Consolidated Plan is the planning document or Comprehensive Housing Affordability Strategy for Ames; and, WHEREAS, the Consolidated Plan requires detailed background information on the community derived both from census data and other comprehensive studies,and it must identify,over a five-year period, the City's goals and priorities to address the housing and community development needs of low- and moderate-income persons, as well as of non-, low-and moderate-income persons in the community; and, WHEREAS,the Consolidated Plan also requires that the City develop an Annual Action Plan that outlines the program activities that will be undertaken to address or meet those goals and priorities,and the Action Plan can address one or all of the goals and priorities of the housing and community development needs identified in the Consolidated Plan; and, WHEREAS,HUD has published the 2012 CDBG funding allocations for entitlement cities,and the City of Ames' allocation is listed at$511,276 for FY 2012; and, WHEREAS, as in the past, staff met with the City Council in January to review proposed plan priorities and projects prior to conducting forums for public input; WHEREAS, staff then conducted public forums in February and shared those comments with the City Council,and the 30-day comment period ended on May 4,2012,with no comments being received;and, WHEREAS, the proposed 2012/13 Action Plan program activities are as follows: Home Improvement Rehabilitation,Homebuyer Assistance,Dangerous Buildings,Single-Family Conversion,and Neighborhood Infrastructure Improvements; and, WHEREAS, all of the proposed activities would be of 100%benefit to low-and moderate-income persons and/or neighborhoods. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that submittal of the City's 2012/13 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan Program proj ects to the Department of Housing and Urban Development is hereby approved.
