HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Waiver of electricity costs and parking meter fees for Summerfest in Campustown RESOLUTION NO. 12-213 RESOLUTION APPROVING WAIVER OF ELECTRICITY COSTS AND PARKING METER FEES FOR SUMMERFEST IN CAMPUSTOWN FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, the Campustown Action Association (CAA) plans to hold Summerfest on June 9,2012,and the event involves activities for young people,live music,and a beer garden;and, WHEREAS,the Ames Chamber of Commerce is providing liability insurance coverage for this event, and the CAA is an affiliate organization of the Chamber; and, WHEREAS, organizers plan to close Welch Avenue from Lincoln Way to Hunt Street, and the portion between Lincoln Way and Chamberlain Street will be closed from approximately 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,Chamberlain Street will be closed only at the intersection with Welch Avenue, and access to businesses along the east and west portions of Chamberlain Street will be allowed;and, WHEREAS, organizers are further requesting that Welch Lot T be closed; and, WHEREAS, parking meters will be covered and parking enforcement suspended on that portion of Welch Avenue during the hours of the event, and metered spaces in City Lot T will also close from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. to facilitate a beer garden and food sales; and, WHEREAS, organizers are requesting the waiver of parking meter fees and fees for use of electricity during the Summerfest entertainment activities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the waivers of parking meter fees and enforcement and fees used for electricity during the Campustown Summerfest activities on June 9, 2012, are hereby approved.
