RESOLUTION APPROVING TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF STATE AVENUE
FOR HOPE RUN
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS,Mary Greeley Medical Center(MGMC)is sponsoring the annual Hope Run for
Hospice on Saturday, June 16, 2012, beginning at 8:00 a.m., and the event includes 5K, 1 OK, and
1-mile running events, and a Hope Run Jr. event; and,
WHEREAS, the route will affect portions of Mortensen Road, State Avenue,Lettie Street,
Wilmoth Avenue,Tripp Street,Dotson Drive,Baughman Road,Beedle Drive,Lincoln Swing, and
Abraham Drive; and,
WHEREAS, in order to facilitate the movement of participants, a temporary street closure
on State Avenue between Mortensen Road and Arbor Street from approximately 7:45 a.m. until
about 10:00 a.m. is requested; and,
WHEREAS, the road will reopen as soon as the last participants are safely through, and
Public Works will provide barricades and cones as required to facilitate the traffic closures and
MGMC will provide volunteers to staff them.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that the temporary closure of Mortensen Road on Saturday, June 16, 2012, for the Hope Run is
hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 24t' day of April, 2012.
