HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Agreement for TSIP funding for West Lincoln Way Intersection Improvements RESOLUTION NO. 12-063 RESOLUTION APPROVING AGREEMENT FOR TSIP FUNDS FOR WEST LINCOLN WAY INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS (LINCOLN WAY AND DOTSON DRIVE INTERSECTION) FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA WHEREAS, this project is shown in the 2011/12 and 2012/13 Capital Improvements Plan, and the work will include the addition of turn lanes along West Lincoln Way and the installation of a new traffic signal system at the Lincoln Way and Dotson Drive intersection; and, WHEREAS, a traffic study for South Fork Subdivision justified these intersection improvements,and an existing Developer's Agreement requires the developer and the City to share equally in the construction cost of these improvements; and, WHEREAS, to cover some of the costs of this $1,085,000 project, the City submitted a Traffic Safety Improvement Program (TSIP) grant application for the maximum possible funding of$500,000; and, WHEREAS,after reviewing the grant submittal,Iowa Department of Transportation(IDOT) officials have approved the request and submitted the agreement; and, WHEREAS, the TSIP grant requires a local match of 20%, which will be covered by both City and developer funds. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the Traffic Safety Improvement Program agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation in the amount of$500,000 for West Lincoln Way Intersection Improvements (Lincoln Way and Dotson Avenue Intersection) is hereby approved.
