RESOLUTION ACCEPTING COMPLETION OF CONTRACT
FOR 2011/12 ARTERIAL STREET PAVEMENT IMPROVEMENTS
(DAYTON AVENUE - EAST 13T11 STREET TO PLYMOUTH DRIVE)
FOR THE CITY OF AMES,IOWA
WHEREAS, this is an annual program that utilizes current repair and reconstruction
techniques to improve arterial streets with asphalt or concrete, and these pavement improvements
are needed to restore structural integrity, serviceability, and rideability; and,
WHEREAS,targeted streets are those reaching the point of accelerated deterioration,and by
improving these streets prior to excessive problems, the service life will be extended; and,
WHEREAS, the location for this year's program was Dayton Avenue from East 131' Street
to Plymouth Drive; and,
WHEREAS, in September 2011, staff completed plans and specifications with estimated
construction costs of$48,076.40,and since the estimated construction cost was under$50,000,staff
requested competitive quotations from four potential quote submitters; and,
WHEREAS, on October 6, 2011, a quotation was received from only one contractor—that
being Manatt's, Inc., of Brooklyn, Iowa; and,
WHEREAS, a Purchase Order in the amount of$48,574.70 was issued to Manatt's, Inc.,to
perform the work; and,
WHEREAS, construction has been completed in the amount of$59,135.78.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa,
that construction for the 2011/12 Arterial Street Pavement Improvements Project(Dayton Avenue
from East 13`' Street to Plymouth Drive) in the amount of$59,135.78 is hereby approved.
ADOPTED THIS 131" day of December, 2011.
