HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - 28E Agreement for Fire and EMS Mutual Aid RESOLUTION NO. 11-515 RESOLUTION APPROVING RENEWAL OF STORY COUNTY 28E MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT FOR FIRE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES (EMS) FOR THE CITY OF AMES, IOWA WHEREAS, in Iowa,28E intergovernmental agreements are used for jurisdictions to share emergency response resources,and in 2001, all of the fire departments within Story County signed a 28E Agreement for mutual aid during fire calls; and, WHEREAS, with the dissolution of the Westory Fire Agency, there is a need for the new Westory and Gilbert agencies to sign a new agreement; and, WHEREAS, the Story County attorney reviewed the current 28E signed in 2001 and recommended a minor change; and, WHEREAS, with those changes and the addition of EMS services, it is necessary for each community to approve the new 28E Agreement; and, WHEREAS, county fire departments that respond to Emergency Medical Service calls also request or provide mutual aid,and there also had been discussion about identifying EMS mutual aid by including EMS into the 28E Agreement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames, Iowa, that the renewal of the Story County 28E Mutual Aid Agreement for Fire and Emergency Medical Services is hereby approved.
