HomeMy WebLinkAbout~Master - Street closures for Ames High School Homecoming Parade RESOLUTION NO. 11-408 RESOLUTION APPROVING STREET CLOSURES FOR AMES HIGH SCHOOL HOMECOMING PARADE FOR THE CITY OF AMES WHEREAS, Ames High School has requested to hold its Homecoming Parade on Monday, September 19, 2011; and, WHEREAS, the parade will begin on 5t' Street and proceed east to Clark Avenue, south on Clark Avenue to Main Street,east on Main Street to Douglas Avenue,north on Douglas Avenue to 5t1i Street, and west on 5tn Street back to City Hall; and, WHEREAS, it will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately 45-60 minutes; and, WHEREAS,to help facilitate this event,the Homecoming Committee is requesting that the City Council approve the closure of Pearle Avenue,Main Street,5th Street,and portions of Douglas Avenue and Clark Avenue from 5:30 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m.; and, WHEREAS,barricades staffed by adult volunteers will be placed on streets along this parade route for traffic control purposes; and, WHEREAS,the Main Street Cultural District has been informed of the parade,and it supports the activity. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Ames,Iowa,that the aforementioned street closures for the Ames Homecoming Parade on September 19, 2011, are hereby approved.
